Launch of The Taste of Balinse Cuisine at Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur

 


Ron Brooks, Resident Manager of Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur and Mr. Tatang Budie Utama Razak, Charge d’Affaires of The Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia launched the ‘Taste of Balinese Cuisine’ featuring two Chefs from Nikko Bali Resort & Spa, Chef I Nengah Sadiasa and Made Wiryanta. Also present on the evening was Mr. Andri Hadi, Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia.

Held in conjunction with Visit Indonesia Year 2008, the ‘Best of Balinese Cuisine’ offered an opportunity for those present for the launch to experience the cuisine and cultural of Bali, Indonesia.

Guests had the opportunity to savour vast choices of flavourful dishes such as Lawar Ayam (Spiced Ground Chicken Salad and Long-Bean), Jukut Mie (Balinese Style Noodles Salad), Gerang Asem Udang (Prawn and Fish Ball in Balinese Bouillon’s), Jukut Nangke Mabe Siap (Stewed Young Jackfruits in Chicken Broth), Be Kambing Guling (Oven Baked Lamb Carcass in Rajang Spiced), Pesan Be Pasih (Roasted Snapper in Balinese Style), Jangki Mebase Rajang (Grilled Fish in Balinese Root Marination), Lapis Basah (Layered Sticky Rice Cake), Kue Kacamata (Steamed Cassava and Banana Roulade), Awug-Awug (Layered Rice and Coconut Cake) and many more. Entertainment for the night was performed by a troupe of students from Indonesia Institute of Arts with their contemporary cultural dances such as ‘Selat Segara’, ‘Terunajaya’ and ‘Oleg Tamulilingan’, accompanied by soothing Gamelan music by a local group.

The event was made possible with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and Garuda Indonesia .
