Official opening of Serena Brasserie Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur

In December last year, Café Serena Brasserie was closed for a total makeover exercise. Now after more than four months and at a cost of close to RM5 million, Café Serena Brasserie renamed as Serena Brasserie re-emerged with a new sleek and contemporary look.

Designed by Axis Network Design Consultants Sdn Bhd, the new Serena Brasserie with a design theme in tuned with Mother Nature, boasts of an interior which showcases all the eco-elements at its best.........From the moment you enter the Serena Brasserie, you will be greeted with artistic bamboo strips in stainless steel which are suspended from the ceiling above the reception which slowly give way to raindrop lights that seems to float down from above. Glass marbles in various hues of blue and white representing the water element adorned one side of Serena Brasserie while tall glass windows offers a breathtaking and panoramic view of the delightful landscaping and cascading water feature beyond; which turns into a magical land when lit up at night.

Light palates of beige and forest green marbles are used throughout the restaurant and offer a calming yet harmonious ambience. Mother Nature's theme is further enhanced with the usage of contemporary timber chairs and tables which are inlaid with bamboos whilst the alfresco dining area is dotted with outdoor bamboo chairs and tables. Setting the backdrop on one end of the restaurant are 230 pieces of intricately carved pewter orchids, specifically designed to represents a whirlpool of garden orchids being swept away by gentle breeze.

And whilst the overall ambience of Serena Brasserie ensures a truly relaxing and memorable experience, our team of talented chefs led by Serena Brasserie's Executive Chef Alexander Reilly is on hand to whip up a feast that's guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning diner. The Serena Brasserie is systematically carved into specific gastronomic zones of hot and cold open kitchen allowing closer interaction between chefs and diners; with a buffet and grill corner for those who prefer unlimited choices to savour.

Serena Brasserie was officially opened by Tuan Haji Azizan Noordin, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia on 27th April 2009. The evening was attended by numerous foreign dignitaries from the Embassies of Japan, Russia, Ireland and Canada.

Corporate and social figures such as Dato' Raymond Liew, Dato' Yul-Shin, Datuk Lee Sang Bai of Samsung, Miki Chong, Selina Yeop, Datin Ho Choy Meng, Dato's PHS Lim, Mr. Marc Demers of Hess Oil & Gas, Designer Eric Choong and Jun Maeshima of Sumitomo Corporation to name few. Besides a lavish spread prepared by Serena Brasserie's Executive Chef Alexander Reilly and his team , guests were entertained throughout the evening by a "Symphony of Drums" performances and YBHG Dato' Mahadzir Lokman presided over the event as the Master-of- Ceremony.
