Taiwanese Super band at Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur - 1st August 2009
FOUR stars are better than one. Especially if they are big names in the first place: Jonathan Lee, Lo Ta-Yu, Wakin Chau and Zhang Zhen-yue. Together this four super stars from Taiwan are known as the Super Band. It was indeed a privilege for Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur to be accorded the opportunity to be of service to the super stars from Taiwan when they were in Kuala Lumpur recently for a media conference to promote their forthcoming concert in the city.
For those who are not familiar with the Super Band, the four members are: Lo Ta Yu, 'The Rebel' the oldest member of the group is a singer-songwriter who is best known for revolutionising Chinese pop and rock music in the 1980s.
Jonathan Lee, 'The Godfather'of Taiwanese music is best buds with the youngest band member, A-Yue. Beyond being a record producer and singer-songwriter, Jonathan's deftness with the guitar is legendary. In 1995, he wrote Hong Kong singer Sandy Lam's fourth Mandarin album, Love, and it became one of the best-selling Chinese language albums of all time.
Zhang Zhen-yue, 'The Bad Boy', a rock musician of Taiwanese aboriginal heritage, first sent female fans' hearts fluttering with his 1998 hit song If You Love Me Don't Go. He is a singer-songwriter who is also known for his skills as a guitarist, drummer and deejay. Five years ago, he crossed over into hip-hop by collaborating with rapper MC Hotdog on his album, Useless Guy.
Wakin Chau, 'The Entertainer' is probably the most recognisable name in the foursome, with a hefty resume of 40 albums. He has released hit singles such as Friends and Love Follows Us, and is known for his delightful banter at live shows.
Brought in by Galaxy Group Sdn Bhd, the Super Band is scheduled for a one-night only performance in the city.
